The accommodation sleeps 8 in two queen rooms and two twins. One queen has an ensuite bathroom, while three share a second large bathroom. Stay cosy in the Lake Tekapo winter with the gas fire, electric blankets and heat pumps. For larger groups, the Red Nest is bookable on the same property depending on availability.

The Aoraki Mackenzie district is renowned for its night sky (the largest Dark Sky Reserve in the world), beautiful scenery and unbeatable climate. Whatever the season, you’ll never be short of things to do in Tekapo, including skiing, walking, horse trekking, hot pools, scenic flights, boating and ice skating.

Castle Hall is located on a quiet street, 3 minutes’ drive from Tekapo’s restaurants, shops, hot springs and observatory. Cowan’s Hill walking and biking tracks start right outside. For those looking to enjoy classic Tekapo activities like skiing, fishing or watersports, the large carport provides storage for skis and outdoor equipment, with a heated drying cupboard for days at Mt Dobson and Roundhill Ski Areas. Tekapo is the perfect base for exploring New Zealand tourist attractions, like Twizel (40 minutes), Ohau Ski Field (1 hour 30 minutes) and Aoraki Mount Cook (1 hour 10 minutes). It’s on the main highway between the cities of Christchurch and Queenstown, both equipped with international airports, and one hour from Timaru, Tekapo’s nearest airport
